| Day 1: Los Angeles - Lima, Peru | |||||||||

| Day 2: Lima City Tour (B/L/D) | |||||||||
Am
City tour offers the best combination of attractions in Lima showing its
three historical periods: pre-Hispanic, Colonia and Contemporary. In Lima,
there were several pre-Columbian cultures dating back thousands of years
old. It was part of the Inca Empire until Francisco Pizarro founded the
city of Lima on January 18th 1535 as capital of the Viceroyalty of New
Castilla of the Spanish Empire.
Ancestral Lima. In Huaca Pucllana archaeological site built in the fourth century ad. There we will have a panoramic view of this magnificent ceremonial and administrative center considered by the Incas a holy village. We will know the lifestyle and rituals of its ancient inhabitants. Lima Colonial. The Viceroyalty of Peru was the most important of the Spanish Empire and Lima was the capital. In its Historic Center highlights the architecture and urban design of this period, old streets with colonial mansions. Our trip includes the Paseo de la República, Plaza San Martin and Plaza Mayor with their different buildings: Government Palace, The Archbishop´s Palace, the Cathedral and the Municipal Palace. (1) Another beautiful building in our visit is the Central Bank Museum, where we will see the Treasures of Peru: a fine selection of gold objects, ceramics and textiles of various pre-Columbian cultures. (Closed on Mondays) Also we are going to enter to the Convent de San Francisco which shows the largest colonial religious art in America. Over there we will appreciate the choir room and the Library of the monks, the Sacristy, with its collection of paintings, its subterranean crypts known as The Catacombs, where you feel the presence of the colonial past. Contemporary Lima. View of the traditional areas of the capital: The
Olive Grove of San Isidro, Miraflores and Larco Mar, distinctive tourist
center of contemporary Lima and vantage point to enjoy a spectacular
view of the Pacific Ocean. In Larco Mar is a splendid example of art
presented in Peruvian alpaca textiles, and a magnificent exhibition
of jewelry and handicrafts from various regions of ancient Peru. |

| Day 3: Lima – Cusco / Cusco City tour (B/L/D) | |||||||||
Am
Private transfer to the airport to take the flight to Cusco, on arrive
another private transfer will take us to the hotel, morning to rest. Lunch
at the hotel.
2.00pm Afternoon City tour that includes the beautiful Koricancha or Sun Temple, the Cathedral as well as the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a most remarkable strategically located 'red fortress' that dominates the entire area before visiting Tambomachay, with its two distinctive aqueducts that to this day continue to provide clean water to the area. Dinner at the hotel. |

| Day 4: Full Day Machu Picchu (B/L/D) | |||||||||
Very
early in the morning we take a transfer from Cusco to the train station
to take the train to Aguas calientes ; a scenic train journey through
the Urubamba Valley to Machu Picchu. (transfer to train station depends
on the train schedule)
Machu Picchu citadel was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911; is located 112 km from Cusco, or 40 km from Ollantaytambo station. At arrival a complete guided tour of Machu Picchu will be one of the highlights of your Peruvian experience. The citadel was built on a very special spot covered in vegetation between two mountains: the Machu Picchu (old mountain) and Huayna Picchu (young mountain). Buffet Lunch included at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge Dinner at the hotel. |

| Day 5: Cusco – Iquitos – Ceiba Tops (B/L/D) | |||||||||
Private
transfer to airport. Take morning flight via Lima to Iquitos. Upon arrival,
transfer to the Explorama dock. Overview Iquitos city tour and Twenty-five
mile journey down the Amazon River to Ceiba Tops, the newest of Explorama’s
lodges, opened in 2000, where the private rooms with air conditioning
provide Amazon adventure in luxury. |

| Day 6: Ceiba Tops - Canopy Walkway (B/L/D) | |||||||||
Early
morning departure from Ceiba Tops by boat to new narrow motorcar crossing
connecting the Amazon and Napo Rivers to continue by boat to ExplorNapo
Lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, hike to the spectacular Treetop
Canopy Walkway spanning over 500 meters(one-third of a mile), connected
by tree platforms, and reaching a height of over 35 meters (115 feet)
but accessible without any type of climbing skill or equipment. After
lunch, visit the “ReNePeRu” Ethnobotanical Garden where over
240 medicinal plants are cultivated by a local shaman who will explain
the nature of Amazonian natural healing and the uses of some of the plants.
Return to Ceiba Tops in time to enjoy the pool or hammocks before dinner.

| Day 7: Ceiba Tops - Lima - Los Angeles (B/L/D) | |||||||||
Early
morning birding excursion. Morning boat ride to visit a small village
of Yagua Indians where your guide will explain their culture and how it
has been affected by the passing of time. There will be an opportunity
to trade for or purchase some of their local crafts and for a demonstration
of the use of the blowgun which some of the Yagua elders still use for
hunting. After noon journey back to Iquitos for your flight back to Lima.
Late night transfer to airport for mid-night flight return to US. |

| Day 8: Los Angeles | |||||||||
Today
your homebound flight will bring you back in the morning to complete the
pleasant tour! |
